Ph.D. HCLD - Lab Director
Dr Behnke is the director of the Assisted Reproductive Technology
laboratories at the Institute for Reproductive Health.
As laboratory
director, Dr. Behnke supervises all of the highly technical procedures
performed at IRH. These include in-vitro fertilization, ICSI, oocyte and
embryo cryopreservation, and Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, as well
and andrology and endocrine diagnostic testing.
Dr. Behnke has a
Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota for
research on sperm capacitation and oocytes maturation and in vitro
fertilization, following a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal
Husbandry from Michigan State University and a Master of Sciences degree
in Animal Physiology from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Behnke directed the Reproductive Studies Laboratory at Bethesda
Hospital and developed and directed the in-vitro fertilization
laboratory at Bethesda Hospital. In 1992 she moved to The Christ
Hospital to open and direct The Center for Reproductive Studies, in
association with the Greater Cincinnati Institute for Reproductive
Health. In 2001, Dr. Behnke designed and directed the new ART
laboratories at the Institute for Reproductive Healthat Rookwood and
served as laboratory director at IRH until 2006. Dr. Behnke returned to
IRH after directing the Kettering Reproductive Medicine Laboratory
until April, 2011. She has also served as off-site director for several
other laboratories located in Charleston WV, Jupiter FL, Cincinnati, OH
and Cleveland OH
Dr. Behnke is board certified as a High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory
Director by the American Board of Bioanalysis with subspecialty
proficiency in embryology and andrology. Dr. Behnke has presented
numerous roundtable sessions and postgraduate courses, and currently
serves on the SART Executive Council. Serving as a laboratory
inspector since 1994, Dr. Behnke was appointed as Commissioner for the
Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program for the College of
American Pathologists (CAP). She is also a member of the CAP
Reproductive Medicine Resource Committee. Professional memberships
includethe American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society
for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), American Association of
Bioanalysts (ABB). She is also a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research
Society. |
