11.07.2011 Services at West Chester Location

IRH is now offering extensive lab services in the West Chester office, which is conveniently located off of the I-75 Tylersville Road exit. Besides being open for new patient appointments, follow-up visits, OB sonograms, blood work/monitoring appointments, and education days, patients are now able to schedule sperm washes, semen analyses and intrauterine inseminations in West Chester. 06.21.2011 Dr. Sherif Awadalla named the 'Fertility Authority' Physician of the Month

Dr. Sherif Awadalla was named the FertilityAuthority.com 'Doctor of the Month' for June. "This is quite an honor" said Dr. Awadalla after hearing the news. Selected for for his work with fertility patients and his philosophy of individualized care, Dr. Awadalla has been treating infertile couples and creating families for over 25 years. 05.02.2011 2011 Baby Reunion ANNOUNCED

IRH is thrilled to announce the details of the 2011 Baby Reunion, which will be held at the Cincinnati Zoo on October 9th from 1pm-4pm. The baby bash will take place at the Whiting Safari Camp (near the carousel) inside the zoo. The physicians and staff will be on hand to celebrate the afternoon with our families. A picnic lunch will be served at 1:30 and the tri-state's largest birthday cake will be served at 2:00pm. Be sure to bring your little ones in their best halloween costumes for the zoo's 'Hall-Zoo-Ween" festivities.

IRH will provide lunch, drinks and cake.

09.16.2010 IRH Nurse Serves as Gestational Carrier for Local Couple

Meet Carmen Woody: She is a mom of three blonde-haired little girls and she works as an infertility nurse. On the job, she experiences the joy of telling couples that, after a long wait and intense heartache, they can expect a new addition to their family in nine months.

Meet the Oylers: After the Oylers' failed in vitro fertilization attempt, their doctor recommended that they consider looking for a gestational carrier. Similar to a surrogate mother, a gestational carrier is a woman who carries a baby to term for somebody else. It was upon this recommendation that Woody decided to lend a helping uterus. "After so many negatives, they just were so positive all the time, and I've always thought about being a gestational carrier," Woody says.

And Woody's nine-month babysitting spree was finally over on Aug. 9 (yes, 8/9/10), when she gave birth to Gabrielle and Isabelle Oyler. The Oylers had a separate hospital room to spend time with their new family members, but they brought the twins to Woody's room frequently to spend time with her and her family.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience definitely was worth it, Woody says. "I think it's blessed my family just as much as it's blessed their family," she says.

08.20.2010 25 years and counting

Congratulations to IRH's Dr Awadalla for 25 years of infertility practice. Dr Awadalla was there from the early days of IVF in the United States. The first US birth from IVF was in late 1981 and Dr Awadalla began his IVF work in 1985 at the Ohio State University. In those days IVF was a lot harder to do and a lot less successful. After more than 2 decades of work, he is happy to say that we are now more often successful than not. Dr Awadalla is grateful for the tremendous patience and courage of those first patients who with their doctors pioneered the procedure.

Dr. Awadalla is also happy that he had an opportunity to meet in person Dr. Patrick Steptoe a British gynecologist who pioneered the procedure.

11.17.2009 2009 Baby Party

Our 2009 baby party was held at the Cincinnati Zoo on October 24th. More than 500 people attended. More than 1000 hot dogs and hamburgers were consumed. The staff was delighted to meet some of our new additions and also to visit with some of the children who are now teenagers. We all appreciated seeing our patients from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia. Many thanks to those who traveled great distances to join in the celebration. We have now had more than 5,000 births from IVF and many more from lesser technologies. Our next party will be 2011!! Hope to see you there.
